The cell chemistry is LiNi0.5Mn0.3Co0.2O2/graphite.
There has been much talk on here about how cobalt will be removed from batteries but in this battery the cathode is still 20% cobalt.
Looking at the Wh/kg and Wh/L of this cell it isn't quite as energy dence as the current cell, but being a pouch instead of a cylinder could make up the difference at the pack level. While we might not see it in Tesla cars this battery could outperform the current cell in the Tesla Semi or in grid storage.
