Not sure where you heard your 'rumour', but can iPhones perform x-rays? I don't think they can, but they can take very high resolution photos, as can any cheap phone camera these days. What is the relevance? None. It moreso sounds like what you've heard is a typical non-technical person that has no appreciation or understanding of the technology and the products. The Rover-X is best used in military hospitals and sports injuries this is where it is being marketed.

Not much feedback on the luggage scanners because no one has fully committed, and would you expect feedback? Do any large companies publish their feedback of their devices they implement? If so, can you show me where? Not to refute your point, but I'm wondering practically, is this actually a thing? There are review websites for consumer products but where do you expect to find published feedback of CT scanners and security equipment used in airports? Generally anything relating to security is kept relatively quiet.
