I had a look into the specifications and without practical knowledge it requires engineering calculations aroind moisture/movement there is in the soil. I couldn't access AS 4773.1 on my phone as i dont have access to SAI Global although i do have an account but pretty sure we only have subscriptions on Oil & Gas industry Standards.

I did find some info below on general guidelines, in relation to Australia, WA is the biggest consumer of Double Brick Homes & it's literally Sand & Limestone so very little movement of the soil as its bone dry - So I would imagine ther is little need for expansion gaps.

East coast is predominantly Brick Veneer or raised wood framed homes, i doubt FBR would target East Coast unless demand increased from consumers to justify sending bots there. They would have more success focusing on Europe/Middle East/Americas as the demand will be higher. https://hotcopper.com.au/data/attachments/1418/1418521-d50fbf0e268c084a810a8578ff711d2f.jpg
In terms of the Lay-head hindering the building cavity walls, looking at the below image, i dont think it'll be an issue at all. If there is even the slightest obstruction, they could just extend the gripping claws 5mm lower and recalibrate the machine.
