Speaking as a geo myself, I have to say I haven't had a great experience with geos as MDs of companies I've invested in.

I generally prefer somebody with a background in business or similar for the MD, as long as there is some heavyweight geo support at both board and senior management level.

Geos tend to get overly distracted by the rocks when they should be focused on the business, IMO. And they often don't really have the right headset for business - I guess TPT is a prime example of that in itself.

The ideal situation is a business-focused MD who listens to his/her geos. Admittedly they can be hard to find!
