Very often when the sp drops it is bigger buyers trying to determine if there is a stop loss in place. If you have a stop loss which is simply set to be triggered when the share price hits a price point without a volume indicator as well, then your stop loss will be triggered. my guess is the announcement is very soon and the big buyers know this and were trying to hit peoples stop losses today.
