New article from a German site (translated)

The chip crisis was one of the most discussed topics of the past year. The lack of semiconductors led to production stops, short-time work in the automotive industry and skyrocketing prices. The manufacturers do not yet see any easing on the market for the current year either. In general, the semiconductor industry is on the move. With the development of chips based on artificial intelligence, a new generation is now gaining access to the mass market. The best example is the Australian company BrainChip, for which the doors to commercialization have been opened wide.

    READY TO COMMERCIALIZE
The start of the new year could not have gone better for the Australian company BrainChip Holdings , which also has branches in the USA. Two news stories in particular caused a stir for the leader in ultra-low-power, high-performance artificial intelligence technology and the world's first commercial neuromorphic AI chip and IP maker. As a result of the good news, the share price has risen from EUR 0.45 to over EUR 1.05 since the first trading day of the new year in Frankfurt. The company is currently listed at EUR 0.92, which corresponds to a market value of EUR 1.62 billion.

The Akida chip developed by Brainchip Holdings, which according to management represents "the most efficient AI solution ever produced" , has the potential to conquer the mass market. The Akida processor is ultra-low power, high performance, and supports the growth of edge AI technology through the use of a neuromorphic architecture, a type of artificial intelligence inspired by the biology of the human brain . With every transaction, Akida learns independently. The technology is therefore ideally suited for modern edge devices and should be used in autonomous driving, IoT devices, in robotics, medical diagnostics or security technology.

    HEY MERCEDES!
Information Systems Laboratories, a technology company specializing in advanced signal processing, space exploration, underwater technologies, surveillance and tracking, cybersecurity, advanced radar systems and energy independence, announced that it has developed an AI-based radar research solution for the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) developed based on the Akida™ neural network processor.

The report from Mercedes, according to which the Stuttgart engineers want to develop systems with brainchips based on the company's Akida hardware and software , attracted even more attention . Among other things, the technology makes the " Hey, Mercedes" voice control in the EQXX five to ten times more efficientthan conventional voice control. Neuromorphic computing is still in its infancy, but Mercedes says similar systems could be available in a variety of consumer products within a few years. And when deployed at scale in an electric vehicle, neuromorphic computing has the potential to significantly reduce the energy required to operate the latest artificial intelligence technologies. BrainChip should get a bigger piece of this cake.

Further information is expected from the company at the International Investment Forum (IIF) on February 17, 2022. Seats for the event are still available free of charge .

GROWTH SPURT DUE TO STRONG DEMAND
The world's leading manufacturer of semiconductors, Taiwan Semiconductor, was also able to end the fourth quarter with double-digit growth in sales and profits . Earnings per share were $1.15 on sales of $15.74 billion, up 24% year over year. Analyst estimates were for earnings of $1.11 per share on sales of $15.77 billion.

For the first quarter, Taiwan Semiconductor expects revenue of between $16.6 billion and $17.2 billion and gross margin of between 53 and 55% , while operating profit margin is expected to be between 42 and 44%.

Discussing the results, TSM CEO CC Wei said the company will spend between US$40 billion and US$44 billion on investments to alleviate global chip shortages and capitalize on demand. TSM shares were able to mark a new all-time high after gaining almost 2%. Invested investors should successively follow the stop.

The semiconductor crisis is likely to continue in the current year. With the new generation of chips based on artificial intelligence, BrainChip Holdings is a leader and has great development potential thanks to the cooperation with Mercedes . Taiwan Semiconductor is still in demand, with JinkoSolar a buy signal could be generated shortly.
