I fully agree with your 'grain of salt' point. I regard TPs as a fairly minor factor in decision making when it comes to investing. However, they can be indicative of analysts' views of a company's forward potential, and the consensus view for JPR seems very positive. Personally, I'm much more focused on fundamentals such as reserves and likely cost of proving-up further reserves; production; prospectivity of assets; financial fundamentals; management quality; and regional factors such as political stability, etc. Overall, and even despite the obvious issues concerning business practices in Kaz, I think JPR scores highly on all these counts. As I see it, the TPs suggested by brokers are merely indicative that they share a similar view.
