"It seems to me that people want to live beyond their means . Renting a house that you can't afford to buy is a classic example ."
Now I have heard everything.
Remind me to send the landlord a bottle of Moet for Xmas for allowing me to live a lifestyle I am otherwise not entitled to. Pfffttt, please.
If the landlord wants to pay $750k+ for the house in 2007, pay the rates, the insurance, the maintenance and repairs, the letting fees, the pool cleaning, and tip the banks a fat margin for the past six years, and only ask me to chip in $600 a week, then I think I owe him one.
In fact, next Xmas I might even offer to take it off his hands for $500k to show my appreciation.
In the meantime I am doing very well out of salary sacrificing into superannuation, and just to appease the bulls, I have some exposure to property in one of the funds.
