One would imagine if the new importer direct sales has significant distribution cost saving
that the opposite would be true: namely a manufacturer could offer a lower margined model
direct to the public more profitably because of the distribution savings (ie: cutting out the dealer margin)
Perhaps Honda Motorbikes will be next?
Over time, spare parts is where the profit is and now China and elsewhere have knocked off that
OEM parts golden goose from the branded manufacturers.
I had reason to price a radiator recently...$1150 OEM & $400 will fit (used to be called pirate part) made in China of course!
