Absolutely incredible interview and I've taken some notes on what stood out and the possible ramifications/significance of those points....

On study of 22 patients comparing forward flow rates and flow reversal rates DurAVR vs Sapien vs Evolut vs two surgical valves....

"And it turns out that the flow rates in the DurAVR valve was the same or similar to a normal human valve in the patient and was significantly better than the Sapien and Evolut valves..... and what was interesting in that study was that the Sapien Valve had worse flow rates than the sick valve."

This is seriously good news for US and seriously bad news for Edwards.

This is the first time that a TAVR has ever beaten a SAVR valve (as a SAVR can be placed by hand.)

"This has really got the valve world talking because people hadn't studied this before and there is good reason why they haven't studied it because the results were not going to be great, until now, and the physicians now are all over it, so it was exciting, I have never seen a level of excitement like it."

"People were just knocked over by it."

"One of the brightest minds in this space globally said that this is a valve for all patients, I don't think it gets any better than that, and this person is particularly skeptical at times and wants to be prudent."

Mr Paterson then goes on to expand upon this topic of laminar flow further and how flow characteristics impact significantly on long term outcomes.... "improve function and condition of the vessels.... better flow dynamics could improve remodeling of the left ventricle."

The DurAVR is completely changing the paradigm of how TAVR results are measured and judged. It could be said that just as the DurAVR has changed TAVR from a 2 dimensional product to a 3 dimensional product so it has changed how TAVR's are judged (as the different factors being measured have now increased.)

"Now the science is just breaking out everywhere about this product."

"I feel almost impenetrable with the data that we are producing at this point."

I've said it before and I'll say it again..... Edwards must be extremely extremely worried by what they are seeing and hearing with regards to DurAVR. They may also be extremely excited at the prospect of acquiring us. Two powerful motivators..... fear and greed.

Although for how much longer can they, and others, afford to wait?
