Yes there was a change in direction a few years back to concentrate on building the resource which coincided with the arrival of the American investors and caused the price to stagnate. I think though it was more deliberate than the word "drift" implies. I have seen or heard it (cant remember which) specifically referred to as a decision taken to go in a different direction.

If back in the day my kids sulked as long as the market has about that change I would have administered some stern parental justice.....
