Nevermind the nonsense about her being 40 (that's a woman at her peak of beauty by the way!) or even ugly. We care -as you also say you care- because she's a) australian, b) she's potentially on death row, c) the media beat it up enormously and so it became a "high profile case" d)because at the other end is Indonesia and this lets all the rednecks out of the woodwork and e) because the case is an interesting study on how another country's justice system works and on racism.
    It also raises in my mind the question of how much responsibility a country has to make sure that its citizens are very well informed about such matters as laws, child care centres, possible health problems (dirty water, variant food, disease, etc) A small brocher handed out by the Dept of Tourism or Foreign Affairs should be sufficient.

    So, Corby might be guilty but with what evidence has been presented to us, the public, I don't think so.
