Is COVID surging in Africa?
If you go here (https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/weekly-trends/#weekly_table), ensure you're on Weekly Trends, then to Africa as a continent it suggests case numbers have fallen 14% in the past week? If you look at JUST South Africa alone (you mentioned Southern Africa) it's down 22% week on week.
Now, I'm the first to admit the data may or may not be robust - given it relies on reporting by individual countries - but that reporting has still mirrored the realities in other continents. Surely this should be increasing, not decreasing to support your claim.
And more importantly, if you don't agree with this, what hard data are you basing the 'surging like crazy' comment on?
I'm not denying that COVID is a major factor for most businesses around the world (not to mention the people themselves), but it's always good to put some rigour and reliable data behind the claims we make on here - otherwise it's risks being noise, assumption and poorly drawn conclusions (whether they turn out to be accidentally right or not).
