Lately, glucose powder has been introduced.

But that assumes that the patient is conscious, and able to swallow.

Early intervention in diabetic emergencies is vital, and should be available to front-line staff, without waiting for the medical emergency team to arrive on the ward.

The new Biodel glucagon rescue device seems to fit the bill, and is a safe device.
