Drilling Program
Westralian Gas and Power Ltd Chairman Peter Briggs today announced the signing of a
drilling contract with Wallis Drilling.
He said that the drilling program in its Boyup Basin tenements, south of Collie, would
begin on 16 June 2009.
The program is operated by the Oswest Energy Pty Ltd Joint Venture which is 75 per
cent owned by Oswal Resources Pty Ltd and 25 per cent owned by Westralian Gas and
Power Limited.
The program follows the completion of a successful seismic survey. Interpretation of
the seismic data provided a more accurate understanding of the extent of the coal rich
Boyup Basin and has resulted in the selection of a number of promising drill sites.
The timing of the drilling program is considered favourable as drilling rigs, teams and
exploration equipment are now more readily available and keenly priced.
The joint venture intends to develop shallow coal for export to India or to feed a large
scale ammonia/urea/fertiliser plant, utilising coal gasification technology as an energy
source, in the region.
Mr Briggs said that the commencement of the drilling program constituted an important
milestone for the joint venture and a basis for continued development of the joint
venture tenements and other downstream products.
