It's now thought by some that genotyping may be useful because HPV types 16, 18 and 45 tend be more aggressive with earlier cancer onset than the other high risk types and if detected the patient can be more closely monitored, but the treatment for all high risk types is the same and the value of genotyping (cost benefit) is unproven. But I think it's worth looking at.
If simplicity is boring then the Innogenetics HPV test is guilty. Apart from the PCR step I could do this assay in my kitchen, no worries.
