The cable network isn't large enough in Australia to remove DSL services. With DSL you need the phone line to get access anyway. Voip will only provide better value (for the home user) for those who spend a lot on their calls to surpass the $30 a month line rental and adsl bill. It also isn't as reliable as pstn with ISPs suffereing downtime regularly. The cost of line rental plus the cost of a decent dsl account makes voip expensive for people who aren't serious web users. voip will make its move with large businesses using it for intra company communications (free voip to voip!). Voip will definetly grow huge but I don't think it will ever replace the humble landline.
