Just looking back at the timing of the phase IIa trial results announcement to give an indication of the earliest time we could see a trading halt and phase IIb results. An announcement that the final patient in phase IIa received their implant was made on 15/12/14, the results of this trial were announced exactly 26 weeks to the day later on 15/06/15 (where a trading halt was called on the previous trading day 12/06/15).
Based on this, as the final patient in the current trial was implanted by 01/05/17 (actual date may have been 28/04/17) unblinding of data will occur on either 27/10/17 or 30/10/17. Meaning we could see a trading halt announced as early as next week on 27/10/17 with results announced during the following week.
Although phase IIa was an open label trial as far as I understand all patient monitoring, data analysis and findings are conducted in the same manner as during a blind trial. If this is the case the final 26 week findings for the 1st and 2nd groups would have been signed off on months ago. Also the final report related to group 3 must be signed off prior to unblinding. I’m sure there’s a lot more to it than this but as the research findings and efficacy results are determined prior to unbliding top line results could potentially be released within a few days after unblinding.
Just pointing out the a trading halt could come slightly sooner than some expect…
