new icaan extensions rules

Just announced by the world domain name controlling body that you can now register unlimited top level domains (tld) ie after the dot, eg .coke, .afl etc. I wonder what the impact on DBS will be - DBS has over 500000 .com domain names registered which it hopes to sell for a profit in the future; Will this water down the sales values? DBS doesn't invest in beachfront, so not sure what effect it might have.Hopefully DBS has a way to maintain what value there is left in its portfolio.here are a few thoughts:big corporates will probably grab their own .tld, and build the marketing around that; also it will be big in the geodomain space, eg .sydney; the market power of the search engines will increase as people will not remember who has what tld, and its easier just to search, then put the found name into favourites for next time; The top end 7 figure sales eg vodka.com will be knocked for 6. This will filter down the line into modest properties; the low end where DBS resides will take longest to respond.Overall, could be big and will take quite a while to shake out...
