EPN is supplying a study drug for a clinical trial looking into the treatment of severe behavioural problems in youth with intellectual disability.
Epsilon will supply MCRI with a berry-flavoured 30 millilitre CBD100 product for the study at no cost, as well as a berry-flavoured placebo. The company will receive a royalty-free licence for data generated from the trial as compensation.
The trial will be randomised, double-blind and placebo-controlled, occurring over two years with each participant involved for 10 weeks.
The trial is being supported by the Victorian Department of Health, who are providing a CBD isolate developed by IDT Australia to be used in the formulation of the study drug, also provided at no cost following an open tender process.
“We see our participation in clinical trials and studies as being critical to developing the medicinal cannabis industry in Australia,” said Epsilon Chief Executive Officer Jarrod White.
“We are pleased to support the Murdoch Children’s Research Institute trial and appreciate the contribution from the Victorian Government which significantly reduced the cost of the Company’s involvement in the project.”
MCRI will analyse the data independently, with results to be published in a peer-reviewed publication.
