Getting a PSTN phone line is also complicated, time consuming and expensive. Also, when your PSTN line goes out it can be for weeks not hours.

Getting a VOIP connection is cheaper and easier and involves less time but does of course have an element of potential complication at the hardware setup stage for many.

There appears to be no simple solution to setup in the current environment with many differing user setups.
