I think that what is hurting the telstra price is uncertainty. Nothing the market hates more than that. Once uncertainty is gone the price will go up regardless of what happens. Remember when the announcement was made that Telstra was going to be forced to split? Share price tanked. The next day it rocketed as people saw the upside of the split.
I bought at low $3s. If come Christmas and some sort of clarification occurs - any sort of clarification you'll get to eat xmas dinner for free. If not as you said the yield is great.
I think that what is hurting the telstra price is uncertainty....
