New kimberlite Pipe L14, page-20

I'm eager to see the TDEM survey, and in particular the commentary on L14 and possibly an old target L6. As you can see from the below extract of the November 2008 quarterly report, Manfred Marx was hot on the trail of L6, however the target was demoted to low priority since it did not show up on the original areomagnetic survey.

What will put the L6 target to bed if it isn't a kimberlite is the TDEM survey, but I wouldn't bet that it isn't, and if it is, why would the garimpeiros waste all that energy on a barren pipe? They dug down 10m until they hit the water table. To put things in perspective, I've plotted L6 (blue star) on the second image below.

K14, which we know today as L14, was also of big interest to Manfred, however why didn't our geos pursue this kimberlite given its close proximity to mb-6 and 8? Well, it's not exactly a case of failing to see the forest for the trees, but something of an oversight due to the sequence of events. When the 131ct stone was discovered at mb-8 during August 2012, our geo was still waiting for the aeromagnetic survey to be flown over the 71km2 strip missed (due to security reasons) in the original survey. From memory eight new kimberlite targets were generated from this fill-in survey, but more importantly, the massive L251 was discovered. It's important to understand that and all available resources were thrown into this kimberlite. After all, it was THE ONE, right?

In the meantime, L14 just sat there, waiting to be rediscovered.

For what it's worth, I'm very bullish on L6/L14 since their locations cannot be excluded as the source(s) to the alluvial diamonds at the prolific mb-6 and 8, but I'm certainly not ruling out L259.

    Cheers, good to be back!
