My feeling is it's a case of 'no news is good news'. If there is no earnings update by mid Feb, then you'd hope they are on track. Then the dividend amount will also impact on where the SP ends up, and they may give that info out prior to the half yearly.
Tempted to take a punt at these levels. When I look the the fundamentals from the annual report, I am logging in to buy, but then I always check a chart before hitting the buy button, and the PPE chart is ugly on all time periods - monthly, weekly - long / short. It's an interesting one!
