New leader - new hope

Renewable energy is about to receive it's greatest boost in 18 months, if the news about a leadership change can be believed.

Malcolm Turnbull has apparently been approached by key members of the LNP to assure them he will not reintroduce carbon pricing or an ETS should he become leader.

If that eventuates, other ways will need to be found in order for Australia to meet it's international obligations to combat climate change. He is on record as saying that Direct Action is not an effective way of reducing emmissions, so we would expect something else to emerge.

At the very least, he will not be trying to dismantle every organisation that has been set up to make the transition possible. Hopefully ARENA, CEFC, Climate Institute, CSIRO, RET target etc will all find it easier to operate in the future.
