GTG do not want to punish smaller research institutions, such as universities, and smaller private enterprise research labs. But want to encourage and promote research, (as thats what GTG are doing themselves), and not shut the research institution down through crippling heavy licence fees, in which these institution wouild not be able to pay.
They may give away a licence for knicks, however, if any thing big comes out of their research, such as a procedure, technic, or product, then GTG is in there with their hand out to benefit through using the research, or monetary payments - a brillant business model.

One such licence,in which was given away virtualy for pennies was to the Kings college in london, where by the have come up with a procedure, (still testing but positive results so far - read announcement early last year), to possibily reduce drug users dependency of the use of cocaine and other hard line drugs .

Now with the bigger Biotech firms, with products on the market, of which are infringeing on GTG patents, then GTG are going in hard - (no mercy), with an ultimatum, of pay up, Millions of dollars upfront + continuing royalties over x number of years, till their patent runs, out or we shut you down approach. The biggies of the world cannot ignore this, as the Applera case win to GTG, backs GTG to the hilt, so the infringeing companies must talk to GTG.

Sit tight lads, do not sell a single share, we all will be rewarded soon.

    Cheers
