A short reflection on electric car revolution

perhaps 10 years later looking back on now would be just like us looking back at people riding horses.

transportation tool revolution is difficult but out of necessity. Internal combustion engine has reached its maximum developmental stage. Over the years we see more precise engineering of components, overhead cam, double overhead cam, computer controlled engine management, variable valve timing, forced induction improves efficiency and even performance of the motor but the final possible evolution step for mass production and marks the evolutionary end point of internal combustion engine. 100 years ago it was still easier to ride a horse but soon the cost of keeping a horse and the simple advantage of mechanical design replaced horses in civilized world in a matter of 20 years. A great transportation epoch has begun, not only the way our vehicles will be powered but also how they would be used and operated. Transportation evolution in the past 100 years has changed our culture, social structure, urban planning and architecture, every movement we've advanced is because our transportation tool have provided "more" than just a method of travelling from A to B. The first oil crisis in 1972 is a solid proof of how car industries can adapt to the necessity of change in a relatively short period of time. In 20 years we went from 5.5 meter long 7 liter V8 dominating 80% of the market to fuel efficient 4 cyl 6 cyl cars accounting for vast majority of car production. They also handled and functioned better than ever. We should not be overly concerned with car manufacture's drive to evolve, this will come naturally, sooner or later. Fuel price have steadily risen over the past 2 years and it will continue to do so. The higher the fuel price or go, the more logical and persuasive it would be for people to move to electric cars, or simply a scouter. The great automated electric car era is simply a logical and essential step in evolution based on our needs to improve our society and its efficiency.

However, the question remains, how long will it take? Another 20 years? Most importantly for us, how long will lithium remain the prime material for battery production? How profitable would lithum be is a matter of predicting speed of rising supply vs speed in rising demand...

Here is a google search on electric car this morning. Good luck lithum investors. electric.png
