Amsterdam is about 500km from Paris(France), London(England), Frankfurt, Hamburg(Germany ) about 200km from Brussels( Belgium). Melbourne to Sydney is 850km. Imagine a ban on ICE sales in Sydney and not Canberra or Melbourne. Think about this, an ICE with a life of ten years to be banned in 2030. What will happen to new ICEs sales from 2020? Parity is predicted in 2021/22.
Here something else to think about. The Australian spodumene miners came on line in 2019. It take twelve months from mine to battery. Other than GXY, how much Australian spodumene has gone into batteries? Alb and Sqm have not increased production. The only available LCE is the low quality technical grade from last year. The reports are EV sales have increased upwards of 50% and solar/battery storage increasing. Low end battery makers must be working through the cheap stuff and higher end waiting for supply. VW and Hyundai are waiting for supply. For 2020-22, high grade LCE must be available now. Buses and trucks need alot more LCE than cars.
Cars break down. EVs, like smartphones, either have power or don't. Caltex is struggling, the refining cost is rising. More EVs means less demand for fuel, will increase cost further.
