i think its pretty simple. Why would you buy on market if you were of the view a company was going to issue ~4x its current share issuance at a likely discount to vwap.
I think your last sentence is the key takeaway and a hard lesson learnt from my perspective. Going fwd, it's fine to trade the momentum around the merits of potential of a mining project but you don't want go all in on an investment until you have confidence that you are on the last leg of the lassonde curve.
