Yes it sounds like we are thinking along similar lines s0 I'll try to explain myself a bit more clearly (please bear in mind I have a fairly basic (and mostly forgotten) background in physics.
If you have the same volume of two different fluids at the same temperature and pressure, they can be storing quite different amounts of thermal energy - depending on the (volumetric) heat capacity of that substance.
Enhanced geothermal has mostly focused on optimizing the temperature and flow with the assumption that the heat capacity of the fluid is more or less a constant - its assumed to be (more or less) water. So I'm wondering whether this potentially opens up a third variable and there could be a fluid capable of transporting more energy for the same flow rate (obviously it also needs to be able to do this practically and economically).
There are a few quite technically knowledgeable people on this thread so interested in opinions as to whether this even theoretically possible (given there is not much detail on the substance).
