Success in producing a completely rare-earth free FeNi magnet

Researchers from Tohoku University in Japan have succeeded in producing a completely rare-earth free high-quality FeNi magnet. The team, led by Professor Akihiro Makino as principal investigator are supported by a MEXT (Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, Japan) project entitled, "Ultra-low Core Loss Magnetic Material Technology Area," under the framework of the "Tohoku Innovative Materials Technology Initiatives for Reconstruction."
Investors need to take note of what these stories don't tell you:-
1. How big are these new completely rare earth free magnets - are they the size of a truck, or a wheel barrow, or a shoe box ?
Lets be realistic - if they are bigger and heavier than Neodymium Iron Boron (NdFeB) magnets - then they don't even rate.
2. What is the cost of these new completely rare earth free magnets - are they more expensive than Neodymium Iron Boron (NdFeB) permanent magnets - because if they are then they don't rate
3. What max. temperature can these new completely free rare earth magnets operate at - they need to be able to operate at 180C to be used in critical motor vehicles components like steering - motor vehicles are forecast to be the biggest driver of demand for permanent magnets - if these new magnets can't operate at these levels then they don't rate
I believe these new completely rare earth free magnets are vastly inferior to traditional Neodymium Iron Boron (NdFeB) permanent magnets - simply because the developers are not disclosing these important selling facts.
Lets face it - if you or I developed a new product which was superior, we would "sell the benefits" while telling the world. None of that going on here.
