CONSMIN APPOINTS NEW MANAGING DIRECTOR



Consolidated Minerals Limited (ASX: CSM, AIM: CNM, FSE: CMN) today announced the
appointment of Rodney Baxter, currently its General Manager Group Services and a
former Anglo American executive, as Managing Director effective from 1 July
2006. Baxter will immediately join the Board as an Executive Director to
facilitate a smooth management handover from Managing Director Michael Kiernan.



Baxter's immediate appointment as an Executive Director will provide an
opportunity for an effective handover, giving him full access to Kiernan's
knowledge of Consolidated's business and global markets, as well as his
extensive network of industry, market and investor contacts in Australia and
overseas.



It will also maintain the continuity and integrity of Consolidated's business
model with an ongoing focus on the efficient and cost effective management of
its core manganese, chromite and nickel operations while continuing to progress
both existing and prudent new business development initiatives.



Baxter was recruited by Consolidated from South Africa in February 2005, having
held a dual role as Projects Director for Anglo American plc and Divisional
Director with Anglo American Platinum Corporation Ltd with whom he was employed
for a period of 9 years from 1995. As Divisional Director, he reported directly
to the Anglo Platinum Executive Committee (EXCO) on key business development and
improvement strategies. Baxter holds Bachelor, Honours and Doctoral Degrees in
Applied Mathematics and Chemistry as well as an MBA.



Kiernan said Baxter was an outstanding, well-rounded executive with proven
skills in the key areas of business optimisation, cost and production
enhancements as well as business and strategic development, having already
played a key role in the development of Consolidated's nickel business and the
establishment of a new zinc-copper business through its 33% stake in Jabiru
Metals.

operating in a complex global market place has proven to be invaluable at
Consolidated, with a mix of skills that aligns well with our current needs and
hands-on management approach," Kiernan said.

leader for Consolidated, maintaining the Company's focus on its core strengths
as a producer and marketer of high-quality minerals, a rigorous approach to cost

acquisition."

It is anticipated that Baxter's current position as General Manager Group
Services will be filled internally. In addition, the Company intends to appoint
a Chief Operating Officer.



Michael Kiernan is to remain on the Board beyond 30 June 2006 as a non-executive
director.
