New gov’t mining policy ready

Manila, Philippines – The Aquino administration’s new mining policy will ?nally be out tomorrow, presidential spokesman Edwin F. Lacierda said yesterday.

Lacierda, in an interview with government radio dzRB, said a copy of the executive order (EO) signed by President Benigno S. Aquino III will be made public simultaneously with the holding of a news brie?ng to be presided over by Environment and Natural Resources Secretary Ramon J.P. Paje in Malacañang.
“It has been signed (by the President). I have no copy of the signed EO but it will be released this week,” Lacierda said.
The Palace of?cial said that Paje will personally explain the contents of the EO to answer questions that have been raised by both the mining industry and environmentalists. (JC Bello Ruiz)
