Here is an interesting article on some research done in the UK, surveying GPs & Diabetes nurses on screening for DKD. It turns out 54% are not doing the annual UACR (urine albumin-to-creatinine ratio) test, as recommended.
One of the main reasons: patients not wanting or willing to provide a urine sample!! The cost of treating diabetes in the UK under NHS is £14 billion pounds annually, with 80% of that treating complications of diabetes like kidney disease.
Bring on PromarkerD...especially for all those patients who have an aversion to peeing in a specimen jar, that’s just unreal!! CE Mark for the test is approved in Europe by the EMA, so let’s hope we see some real progress soon. There is more evidence coming out in research regarding early detection all the time & medical recommendations on that.
It is like the timing is perfect for PIQ & PromarkerD at the moment. I can’t believe people are selling at the moment either, but there is a lot of fear surrounding the impact of Corona Virus spread. I did read this morning that the first batch of a vaccine is ready for human testing, that has happened so fast!! It won’t be forever.
