I think it would be helpful, if they are accurate. There is a new rapid test being trialled now, (not a prick test) ~45 mins.
Serology tests for antibodies will be really useful, but the big thing is how accurate these tests are, or they could do more harm than good in the current situation with COVID-19, particularly with false negatives.
So we will see what happens with efficacy in testing for COVID-19, but I think that on positive finger prick test, there would still need to be lab confirmation.
They have now relaxed screening criteria & encouraging testing on any respiratory symptoms in certain areas in Sydney with community transmission evident in a few locations, so I’m sure there will be a lot more residents seeking testing in these areas.
