    @hami512. There has been over 15 years of heavy research testing batteries 24/7 after the September 11 attacks in 2001. There is an agenda to diversify energy supply and to be more energy self sufficient.

    Lets hope they keep get better at it. I have seen some progress on lithium-air batteries that can keep cool as you drive.

    Tesla improved their design last year by putting an improved steel protective plate under the vehicles. This is to help reduce damage to batteries from objects flung up under the car. I share your concerns about the problems of over heating batteries on the aircraft.

    From the research I read, these exploding or burning batteries were due to membranes between layers of the battery breaking down or corroding. the mixing of chemicals from the different layers causes the problems.

    I didn't buy an electric car or the old Samsung galaxy mobile phone that caught fire a lot. But some friends bought the newer Samsung Galaxy S7 and S8 and have no problems.

    It is interesting that Elon Musk at Tesla says that graphene is likely to play big role in energy storage in the future. Lucky LIT is also into the graphite.
