I think it is the company's problem, primarily because they drummed up votes for a demerger by promising we'd list ASAP, and far sooner than if we waited for the ASX case. So either they keep their word or they don't.
I agree there are costs to being listed - both listing and compliance costs. These arent huge though, and we were paying them 4 years ago. You'd never suspend trading to save on listing costs, so why would you intentionally continue a suspension for that reason? We're still a public company (unlisted) so a lot of those compliance costs still exist anyway. Really isnt a lot of money we are talking about.
