Wondering on my lack of full appreciation of this whole fiasco, especially the legal processes so let me have a little 'fantasy scenario'

Ed is in a corner seems he is now holding the bag. How does he get out of this and hold some, I was going to say credibility- but that is shot?
So Ed thinks up some game plan like the following :- (my opinion and fantasy of course)

Ed "Hey Albo am in a corner now and looks like I may end up with egg on the face or a total goose"
Albo " Why mate?"
Ed " Well Maddie threw me that PEP11 bizzo that you said you would stop, the one Scomo stuffed up and got into strife over. Maddie pushed it to me to look into it many months ago and it sat in my 'too hard basket' with 0 action and now the shite has hit the fan- but mate I have a plan! I think I have stalled it now but I think it could be a problem for us later. I think I stuffed things up..................."
Albo " Spit it out Ed"
Ed " Well ya know ya gotta plan an election soon and things do not look rosy!"
Albo " Geez mate ya not wrong, so what's ya plan? "
Ed " We don't want to tell or show the world what a mess we've made of this, how about we get some of our 'evidence junk, ya know where we stuffed it up badly' out of the court order and seek a delay? Then, in late March next you call an election -just say for April 1 I can then say we cannot do anything on PEP11 as it's gotta be in the hands of the elected Govt. What ya think Albo?
Albo " Geez mate is the evidence against us that bad?"
Ed " You betcha mate I think it is ...it stinks. Maddie's handwritten note saying we need to solve this is about er 18 months old--- since then she has approved some gas drillings, offshore also but not PEP11. That bl--dy lease is said to have gas seeping from the seabed! It looks pretty shonky for us mate And you agreed to the Timor Leste gas, what ever, -I think that's right mate. What would the public think of you doing that costing Aussie Taxpayers millions of $$$ for about a 10% stake for OZ.... 90% for the others ---- Sure the Libs would bring that up eh? Basd blue mate"
