in the strange world that milesg sees, all roads lead back to Israel. A very simplistic view of the world.
US aid to Egypt also probably something to do with control of the Suez canal, control of major portion of Nile river and Nile basin, it being a major islamic country in a extremely strategic geographical postion, and having such a huge land area bordering both the red sea dn the mediteraan Sea Also it was a one time a USSR client state.
I would imagine that peace with Israel is also part of the equation, but the peace treaty also seems to me to be a tiny slice of rationality in an extemely irrational part of the world and this should be welcomed as a step in the right direction and supported appropriately.
Of course, if you can only see the world in terms of Israel or no-Israel, eveything seems firmly connected to Israel and nothing else is important.
