Don't get confused here. It's not a partnership with the NBA, PointsBet are just a registered user of the NBA data which goes by the description "authorized sports betting operator", a mandatory requirement for them if they want to take bets on NBA games. In exchange they will pay a 'product fee', basically a tax for the use of the NBA IP.
All US operators are in the same boat, there's nothing special about this announcement at all.
This is much the same as you would see every wagering operator in Australia is an 'Approved Betting Partner" of the AFL, NRL, Tennis Australia, Racing Victoria, Racing NSW etc.
This is distinct from being the Official Wagering Partner which carries exclusive advertising rights, as would be the case with the AFL and BetEasy, or the NRL and Sportsbet.
