Petition EN5079 - Decrease Living Costs and Create Jobs; Offshore Gas Exploration.Petition StatusThe petition has been presented to the HouseOPENCLOSEDPRESENTEDRESPONDEDPetition ReasonThis petition is presented to the House of Representatives as a way to strengthen Australia’s economic stability by: -Securing a domestic natural gas supply. -Downgrading our reliance on foreign gas imports affecting Australia’s ability to become resilient from world economic issues and gas shortages. -Helping to reduce the cost of living by providing cheaper gas to Australian east coast residents. -Creating job opportunities for local residents, skilled workers, and apprentices. -Lowering national debt through the taxation of domestic gas supplies rather than import and taxation costs from foreign entities. This petition is necessary due to the issues we are facing as a nation. Australia is currently experiencing, but not limited to: a national gas shortage, substantial rises in the cost of living post COVID-19 lockdowns, and a substantial rise in national debt from the former government.Petition RequestWe therefore ask the House to approve the offshore gas exploration permit PEP-11 as it resides in federal waters. This duty appointed to the Minister for Resources - The Hon. Madeleine King MP via the National Offshore Petroleum Titles Administrator (NOPTA), must be acted on immediately for the reasons stated above.
