ST volatility may or may not have an impact in the longer term outlook for the US economy. I am now in the bearish camp in the ST but I don't think we will have a GFC meltdown. Certainly Powell's latest commentary could within your 2 school of thought with an added message for Trump that it has to remain independent!
2 elephants in the room are Trade war and China's growth. I am seeing our economy being sucked down by China and the bearish fuel from the US stock volatility. AUDUSD with a 6 handle looks like sooner rather than later, might even be expected from today!
Markets are falling off the cliff so I am glad I've gone mostly cash and not punt but prudence. Just play long gold as a currency if you don't want to take the short side on the ccy.
