System Development Engineer in NLD Netherlands

As a System Development Engineer you contribute to high-performance and robust designs of the Minicare point-of-diagnostic system that will be used world-wide in emergency departments in hospitals. The Minicare has the promise of reducing turnaround times of diagnostic testing, thereby simplifying workflows in hospitals. Your challenge will be to develop a high performance and robust platform that enables the development of multiple applications.
*Your responsibilities *

• Development of key components of the magnetic biosensor platform. The biosensor platform consists of handheld and benchtop analyzer devices including (embedded) software, disposable microfluidic cartridges and a process to manufacture these cartridges.
• Develop a thorough and broad insight into the systems primary functions in relation to the high-level performance requirements and commercial wishes.
• Perform system-level analysis of the magnetic biosensor system: Build and simulate extensive and complex models of the system’s behavior (models may include magnetic, optical, micro-fluidic, (bio) chemical, thermal and mechanical aspects).
• Initiation, execution, analysis and documentation of complex experiments to gain understanding of the system. This includes the organization of the work by a larger group of engineers.
• Generating initiatives for substantial technological improvements and innovations based on creative new ideas, observations and analysis. Integrate improvements seamlessly into existing parts of the platform.
• Formulate and document design- and interface specifications of various parts of the system. Align with other development groups across multiple disciplines.
• Combine application specific solution proposals in more generic platform designs.
• Contribute to the overall technology roadmaps for the different system components.
• Verification of several integrated (sub) systems.
• Where needed perform 3rd line support for field complaints: root-cause analysis, problem fixing.
• Keep up to date with the developments in relevant areas in and outside Philips (via literature, conference visits, contacts with Philips research and peer colleagues in the field).
