    You can do it on a BTU factor if you are interested in the amount of energy you have sold. However the market is only interested in the amount of money received for the energy sold, then the ratio is roughly 10:1. Oil $70 barrel VS Gas $7BCF Approx.
    Similiarly you cannot compare gas reserves in Australia with gas reserves in the US, even though they have the same energy value. US gas is worth almost 3X the price.
