I think u will find that the PC power supply would not be sufficient to power a 10w or 20w PCI amplifier/sound card. Additionally I doubt whether the PCI slots standard would allow enough power either.
As many newer PC's have 5 channel sound "on-board", the idea is to have the amp external from the PC, between the source (PC) & the speakers..... eg typically built into the subwoofer
