As part of the Midwest Shared Infrastructure Initiative, Verbec have been contracted for a feasability study for a shared slurry line between Mullewa and Geraldton. The study is looking at 3 alternatives for the pipeline, 30, 60 and 90 mtpa.
Green Steel WA have partnered with the Italian company, Daniela, to commence building a green steel plant at Geraldton. Daniela have expertise in building green steel plants. To fast track the he plant it will initially use readily available natural gas and switch over to green hydrogen when green hydrogen becomes economical.
Since FEX took up an interest in the magnetite deposits at Byro, their have been discussions with GSWA to build a pellet plant at Mullewa, again using the already available natural gas with plans to switch over to green hydrogen when green hydrogen becomes economical.
The distinct large crystal size of Fe3O4 found in Midwest magnetite means less costly benefication (crushing and magnetic separation) as it does not need to be crushed down to a fine powder.
