Crisis, the share price isn't always a psychological hurdle unless you have a specific hurdle in your mind (like a pre-consolidation price under 10 cents).
Consolidations can go either way, depending on the company and prospects but it can bring in a different kind of investor. At 9 cents you have a lot of speculators and not a lot of broker interest.
At 90 cents you might a few less daytraders and some more serious long-termers. It's just a numbers thing.
Eitherr way, whether we get to 50 cents now or $5 after consol, will ultimately be "potential value / number of shares". We are in the hands of management to get the value up. The type & motivation of buyers / sellers of the shares is more a short-term impact.
