keith, conversion rate is a moving feast between the various competitors. Depend on what they take as their initial number, raw infringements caught by the cameras?, raw infringements less infringements not prosecutable? (out of staters in some cities, ambulance on his tail, etc and so on) also you can take another number, that is the second one plus obscured number plates, sun glare etc. but this really is cheating as that is the fault of the technology.
Basically my guess of the rough percentages (taking no.2 as the base figure)runs as follows after allowing for non-prosecutable infringements:-
ACS with wet film-------45% is about max
ACS with their new Gatso digital cameras------pretty woeful as they seem unable to iron out the bugs. They bought in just the cameras and tried to cobble a back end system on.
Nestor video------------30 to 40% but has been as low as 20% however their new HD video has improved that number.
Redflex-generally accepted as 70%+ but can be lower than that and also get as high as 90%+.
It's pretty hard to get really accurate estimates as the police in one city may be much harder on throwing out potential infringements, particularly stop on red turn infringements, than those in another city. However it is generally recognised in the industry that the Redflex technology produces much superior capture and conversion numbers and these new Redflex cameras should further improve the RTS lead in this area.
