duff, for what it's worth, Ancient Greeks -and modern ones, used to believe that the milk which pours when a fig is broken from its twig, is remedial for many ailments. MORE importantly, figs are a poetic metaphor for genitals - both male and female. "putting it on (or more frequently in) the boil" has nothing to do with pots. Use your imagination. Also, papiri are often illegible and one might find that the gender is not quite clear, not is the author, nor are a number of other things. Now I know I'm being more romantic than the scientists but... yeah I'm OBVIOUSLY more romantic! I better go to bed or the missus will start without me! LOL
