Reality is no corporate is going to be able purchase a sizeable stake in the absence of a bidding war. The majors are secure and have taken a position for one reason only - to make money.
It's the same reason that large volumes of shares are not currently being acquired. To do so will result in an increasing share price and a rapid one.
